A Pair of Suspects Formally Indicted with Jail Killing of Former Lostprophets Frontman Ian Watkins

Two individuals now face murder charges after the death in prison of former Lostprophets singer and convicted child sex offender Ian Watkins.

Samuel Dodsworth, 43, and Rashid Gedel, 25 have both been charged with murder and will appear before Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, per police authorities.

Watkins, 48 years old, was in the midst of a 29-year prison term at HMP Wakefield, alongside six more years under supervision, after admitting a string of sex offences among them the attempted rape of a baby.

Watkins was taken into custody following a narcotics search warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were taken as evidence.
